
Sunday 7th November 2021 – FoGA Litter Pick, Meet 3pm at junction of Fairfield Way and Great Ashby Way.
A small team of Friends of Great Ashby (FoGA) volunteers will be meeting to ‘walk the woods’, survey the area for Winter Woodland Work (see details below) and pick the obvious litter.
The event follows the Litter Pick Rota protocol, so please read the briefings. Do come suitable dressed for a cold, wet day. Wear warm clothes, suitable foot wear and bring your own gloves, hand sanitiser and refreshments to suit (make sure your you have them in a back pack, so that your litter picker and hoop holding hands are free!)
FoGA will provide sacks, litter pickers & hoops (Thanks to sponsor NHDC) and High Viz vests (Thanks to sponsor Darren Hughes of Brian Currie).
As agreed with Countryside Management Services (CMS), our Winter Woodland Work will focus on:
- Removing old pheasent wire and any left behind material
- Removing redundant tree guards and securing those that are necessary
- Cleaning intepretation panels
Then in accordance with the GREAT ASHBY WOODLANDS & DISTRICT PARK GREENSPACE ACTION PLAN 2020 – 2025
- Clear entrances and main paths of vegetation
- Maintain forest school area
