Between the 1st and 7th June 2020, a Facebook ‘Gossip’ Consultation took place on the ‘Great Ashby Residents Group’.
Considerations for Great Ashby Community Council:
There are a number of competing tensions:
- Are we just ‘Great Ashby’ or are we greater than that and should collaborate with our neighbours?
- Should the GACC do more or be abolished?
- Should GACC raise less or more money?
- What does GACC do? What does NHDC do? and What does HCC do?
KEY IDEAS FROM THE GOSSIP:
More focus on Anti-social behaviour, better CCTV coverage, and introduce speed cameras
Greater services, dentists, doctors etc
Business forums for local business collaboration
More access to facilities for young people, adventure playgrounds, café, youth club etc
Regular talks on emotional and mental health, confidence & ecology & film nights
Tennis Courts, Basketball Courts, Dog Park, and of course, a Pub
Activities like a fun run, litter picks and a post Covid party
A dog park, possibly from the old bowling green in St Nicholas Park
These issues are being addressed:
- Cycle paths & walk ways
- More salt bins
- Vegetation across paths, horse droppings etc
- Merrick Close playground
An update as at 29th June 2020 is posted. This has been submitted to the GACC.
